Although it's likely that most students never had access to color printers just a few decades ago, it's interesting to see that some color printing was actually available in the nineteenth century a hundred years before a Long Island copies service would be able to swiftly produce a large number of copies for a business or order. Color illustrations were a significant part of many nineteenth century books and the first color printing techniques were used as a method to reproduce the great artistic achievements in illustration that were provided for books of the day by artists.
